A JOURNEY THROUGH THE AQUITAINE REGION
The buckthorn is a shrub that ranges from 1 to 7 meters in height and thrives in humid areas. These shrubs are mainly found in forests and at low altitude in the mountains. Buckthorn produces small black berries and flowers in France between April and July. Aquitaine, the most wooded region of France, boasts a rich heritage and extensive forests. Found in mountainous area, plains, and along coast, Aquitaine’s uniqueness lies in its remarkable variety of species and environments.
With more than 35 protected areas including 5 Regional Natural Parks and 30 Nature Reserves, Aquitaine covers 84,000 km2, making it the largest region in France, but also one of the most nuanced in terms of landscapes. Between dunes, moors, famous vineyards of BORDEAUX, marshes, rocky coasts, mountains and groves, this land of a thousand faces benefits from an essentially temperate climate of the more or less altered oceanic type. Here, extreme temperatures are rare and the air is rather mild in winter and summer.
